Judith
is a native of Edmonton and obtained her BMus degree at the University
of Alberta. She went on to further studies of musical theatre and opera
at the University of Western Ontario and at the Banff Centre. Judith
later moved to Pretoria, South Africa, studied at the Opera School there,
and started her professional career as a singer of opera, oratorio,
lieder, and chamber music.
While
in South Africa, Judith organised and ran a weekly lunchtime concert
series for many years. This led her to work in the UK and further study
at the Britten-Pears School in Aldeburgh. Judith has done several recordings
for SABC in Johannesburg and given concerts throughout South Africa.
She and German-based pianist Robin Phillips have collaborated on concerts
and tours with a wide range of repertoire. Judith returned to Canada
in 1998 but travels to England often to give concerts and masterclasses.
In Edmonton, Judith has performed with pianist Janet Scott-Hoyt and
the Alberta Baroque Ensemble.
