The Stranger of Galilee
Text: Leila N. Morris (altered)

In thought I stood by the shore, one day,
Of the beautiful murm’ring sea;
I saw the great crowds as they thronged the way
Of the Stranger of Galilee;
I saw how the man who was blind from birth,
In a moment was made to see;
The lame were made whole and the deaf to hear
By the Stranger of Galilee.

And I felt I could love Him forever,
So gracious and tender was He!
I claim’d Him that day as my Saviour,
This Stranger of Galilee.

I heard Him speak peace to the angry waves,
Of that turbulent, raging sea;
And lo! at His word were the waters still’d,
This Stranger of Galilee;
And I felt in my Heart a joyous calm
That ever abides with me.
His word has the power of healing balm,
This Stranger of Galilee.

[instrumental break]
To travellers in darkness and doubt He gives
The morning of victory.
He leads us today with the life He hath lived,
This the Stranger from Galilee.

And I felt I could love Him forever,
So gracious and tender was He!
I claim’d Him that day as my Saviour,
This Stranger of Galilee.

He taught us to heal with the truth of God,
What a glorious ministry!
To take up the cross and tread where He trod,
The Stranger of Galilee.
To those who would follow He promised power
That would set the poor captives free.
Today is the day, and now the hour,
For the Healer of Galilee.

And I promise to rise up and follow
To have the same mind as He.
He gave us the perfect example,
That Stranger of Galilee.
